Red Teaming Services

Think like an attacker. Test like one.

Penetration testing finds vulnerabilities. Red teaming answers a harder question – when a skilled, motivated adversary targets your organization, would your people, processes, and technology detect and stop them in time? AMATAS red teaming puts that to the test.

Most security programs are built around finding and fixing vulnerabilities – and that’s necessary. But it’s not sufficient. Red teaming goes further: it tests whether your defenses actually work when a skilled adversary is operating against you in real time. Using the tactics, techniques, and procedures of real-world threat actors,

AMATAS red teaming services give you evidence-based answers about your detection capabilities, your response procedures, and the gap between what you think your controls do and what they actually do under pressure.

Services

Three red teaming services - one goal

Each service applies red teaming methodology differently – varying the level of collaboration, intelligence input, and regulatory alignment to match your objectives.

Red Team Engagements

A covert, objective-based attack simulation – your security team doesn’t know it’s happening. We simulate the full attack lifecycle of a real adversary to test whether your defenses detect and respond in time.

  • Covert – blue team unaware
  • Full attack lifecycle simulation
  • MITRE ATT&CK, TIBER-EU & CBEST
  • Standalone or continuous

Purple Teaming

A collaborative exercise where our red team and your blue team work together in real time – executing attack techniques, testing detection, and immediately improving coverage. The fastest way to build detection capability.

  • Fully collaborative – blue team involved
  • Technique-by-technique detection improvement
  • MITRE ATT&CK mapped
  • Standalone or post-red team

Threat-Led Penetration Testing (TLPT)

Intelligence-driven red teaming aligned to DORA and TIBER-EU – the regulated framework for financial sector threat simulation. Uses real threat intelligence specific to your organization and sector.

  • DORA & TIBER-EU compliant
  • Intelligence-led threat scenarios
  • Regulator-ready reporting
  • For financial entities & critical infrastructure
Finding the right starting point

Red Teaming at every stage of your security journey

Red teaming isn’t only for organizations with mature security programs – it’s for any organization that wants to understand how their defenses perform under real conditions. The right service depends on where you are.

Purple Teaming

Build detection capability fast – collaborative exercises that improve your blue team’s skills alongside testing.

Red Teaming

Test your defenses under realistic attack conditions – covert simulation with a debrief that drives improvement.

TLPT

Intelligence-led simulation aligned to DORA and TIBER-EU – for financial entities with mandatory testing requirements.

Full Program

Combine all three services into a continuous red teaming program that tests and improves your defenses year-round.

Who it's for

Red teaming is right for your organization if

Financial institutions

TLPT is mandatory under DORA for financial entities that meet significance thresholds – and a recognized best-practice framework for those that don’t.

Organizations with a SOC

You have a security operations team and want to know how they perform under real attack conditions.

Critical infrastructure

NIS2 requires organizations operating essential services to validate their resilience against realistic threats.

Organizations post-pen-test

You’ve completed penetration testing and patched the findings – now you want to know if your defenses actually detect attacks.

Teams building detection capability

Purple teaming is the fastest way to improve SOC detection coverage – no matter where you’re starting from.

Board-level cyber assurance

Adversary simulation provides board-ready evidence that your security investment actually works under realistic conditions.

Compliance support

Frameworks our red teaming services support

Red teaming – particularly TLPT – is moving from best practice to regulatory mandate across the EU financial sector and critical infrastructure. Our services are structured to satisfy these requirements directly.

FAQ

Red teaming - common questions

What is the difference between red teaming and penetration testing?

A penetration test identifies vulnerabilities within a defined scope – with the goal of finding as many weaknesses as possible. Red teaming simulates a real adversary with a specific objective – reaching your most sensitive assets without being detected. The question shifts from “what vulnerabilities exist?” to “would we survive a real attack?” Both are valuable – penetration testing finds the gaps, red teaming tests whether your defenses would catch someone exploiting them.

What is TLPT and who does it apply to?

Threat-Led Penetration Testing (TLPT) is a specific form of red teaming that uses real threat intelligence about your organization and sector to design and execute the emulation. Under DORA, significant financial entities in the EU are required to conduct TLPT following the TIBER-EU framework. TLPT differs from standard red teaming in its intelligence-led scoping process, involvement of a Threat Intelligence Provider, and the structured reporting required for regulatory submission.

What is the difference between a red team exercise and purple teaming?

A red team exercise is covert – your security team doesn’t know it’s happening, which is what makes it a realistic test of real detection capability. Purple teaming is collaborative – our red team and your blue team work together in real time, executing techniques and immediately improving detection. Red teaming measures your current capability; purple teaming builds it. Many organizations use purple teaming to develop capability and red teaming to independently validate it.

Do we need a mature security program to benefit from red teaming?

All three services are valuable at different stages of maturity. Purple teaming is an excellent starting point for organizations building detection capability – it’s collaborative, educational, and produces immediate improvement. Red team exercises and TLPT are better suited for organizations with established security operations that are ready to be tested under realistic conditions. We’ll help you identify the right starting point based on where your program is today.
