Strategic Advisory Services
Security that's built right from the ground up.
Testing finds vulnerabilities in what’s already built. Strategic advisory shapes what gets built in the first place – and prepares your organization for the threats that are coming. AMATAS strategic advisory services align your security architecture and cryptographic posture with where your business and the threat landscape are heading.
Services
Two strategic advisory services - long-term security by design
Both services are designed to address security at a strategic level – before problems are built in and before emerging threats become urgent crises.
Secure Architecture Review
An expert review of your system or cloud architecture from a security perspective – identifying design weaknesses, trust boundary violations, and security gaps before they’re built into production.
- Cloud & hybrid architecture review
- Trust boundary & data flow analysis
- Security control gap identification
- Threat modeling & risk assessment
- Compliance alignment review
- Remediation roadmap & design recommendations
Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) Readiness
A structured assessment of your organization’s cryptographic exposure to quantum computing threats – and a roadmap for migrating to quantum-resistant algorithms before the deadline arrives.
- Cryptographic inventory & dependency mapping
- Quantum risk exposure assessment
- NIST PQC algorithm alignment
- Migration prioritization & roadmap
- Harvest-now-decrypt-later risk assessment
- Regulatory compliance alignment
Why strategic advisory
Security built in is cheaper than security bolted on

Shift security left
Identifying architectural weaknesses before systems are built is dramatically cheaper than remediating them after deployment – and avoids the operational disruption of retrofitting security controls.

Get ahead of emerging threats
Quantum computing and evolving regulatory requirements don’t wait for convenient timing. Strategic advisory helps you plan and act before the deadline forces a crisis response.

Compliance by design
Building regulatory requirements – DORA, NIS2, GDPR, EU AI Act – into your architecture from the start avoids costly rework when audits reveal gaps in systems already in production.

Independent expert perspective
Internal teams develop blind spots. An independent architectural review brings a fresh, adversarial perspective – identifying assumptions and gaps that internal stakeholders have normalized.
Who it's for
Strategic advisory is the right fit when
Building or redesigning systems
New platforms, cloud migrations, or major redesigns – get security input at the design stage, not after go-live.
Financial institutions
DORA requires documented security architecture governance – strategic advisory supports that evidence trail.
Planning for PQC migration
Organizations that handle long-lived sensitive data need to start their cryptographic migration now – not when quantum becomes operational.
Post-incident architecture review
After a breach or near-miss – understand whether the architectural decisions that enabled it are present elsewhere.
Pre-merger or acquisition
Technical security due diligence on the architecture and cryptographic posture of a target company before integration.
Deploying AI systems
AI architectures introduce new trust boundaries and data flows – a secure architecture review before deployment reduces risk significantly.
Compliance support
Regulations our strategic advisory services support
Strategic advisory directly supports the security governance and cryptographic requirements of leading EU and international frameworks – providing the documented evidence your auditors and regulators require.

FAQ
Strategic advisory - common questions
A penetration test assesses what’s exploitable in a system that’s already been built and deployed. A secure architecture review evaluates the design of a system – identifying security weaknesses at the architectural level before they’re implemented. Architecture reviews are most valuable early in the development lifecycle, when changes are cheapest. Penetration testing validates that the built system is secure.
The threat is real today through what’s known as harvest-now-decrypt-later attacks. Adversaries are already collecting encrypted data with the intention of decrypting it once sufficiently powerful quantum computers are available. Organizations that handle long-lived sensitive data – financial records, health data, government information, intellectual property – need to begin their cryptographic migration now to ensure that data remains protected when quantum capability arrives. The migration itself also takes years to complete across complex environments, making early planning essential.
Yes – and we recommend it. A secure architecture review followed by penetration testing gives you the most complete picture: the review identifies design weaknesses, and the penetration test confirms what’s exploitable in the implemented system. Similarly, PQC readiness assessment pairs naturally with source code review – identifying where vulnerable cryptographic implementations exist in your codebase and providing a concrete migration starting point. We’ll recommend the right combination during the scoping conversation.
